The basic idea is a rough triangulation using the RSSI values knowing that it is not very accurate. You improve accuracy, place it where signals are most likely to have direct line of sight with minimal interference. Might seem simple to just put them on the ceiling, but remember the range is in meters and your ceiling might already be 3-4 meters above users.
